1. Why should you choose us as your Seattle chiropractor?

Over the past 20 years in Seattle, our family of chiropractors at Queen Anne Chiropractic has stayed tried and true to our beliefs. This has allowed us to become one of the most reliable and trusted chiropractic clinics you can find. Our belief system is centered in the understanding that each person who enters our office and seeks care from a chiropractor or a massage therapist, will be listened to and treated with respect.

As a close knit family of chiropractors, we have been able to rely on one another for second opinions and guidance in helping people with very difficult health problems. The atmosphere that this has created is a rarity which can be difficult to find with another chiropractor. We believe this family atmosphere allows our patients to easily feel welcome and at home, which can help any reluctance or jitters that might be felt when seeing a chiropractor for the first time.

The experience level of each chiropractor at our Seattle chiropractic clinic is second to none. Each chiropractor draws from years of experience as a full-time practicing chiropractor. Each has spent time as the team chiropractor to the Seattle Supersonics(our stolen NBA team) the Seattle Storm, and has also cared for many local college athletes from the University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University, and Seattle University. Dr. Darrell has also been a former coach to the Seattle Mudhens rugby team, and still cares for many of the players.

With three chiropractors in our clinic, we have set up an appointment schedule that has been designed to help the patient and not the doctor. Open six days each week, with early morning and later evening hours, we do our best to accommodate the very busy schedules that many Seattle residents have.

We also pride ourselves in timeliness, and rarely would you wait more then a few minutes to receive an adjustment from a chiropractor. Same day appointments can be made, and we do our absolute best to make sure people new to our office can be seen as soon as possible.

It is our hope that everyone who seeks care from a chiropractor has an excellent experience, and we have done our utmost to insure this happens at Queen Anne Chiropractic Center.

2. How can a chiropractor help you?

One of the greatest things about having have a chiropractic clinic in a city of Seattle, is the openness of our population to healing naturally. At Queen Anne Chiropractic Center “healing naturally” refers to the ability of the body to heal itself if it is free of nervous system interference.

The main job of a chiropractor is to find and correct the root cause of your nervous system interference. The most common causes of the nervous system that a chiropractor sees involve physical, chemical, and emotional negative influences.

These negative factors can create an imbalance in a persons overall well being and manifest in a wide variety symptoms from pain and numbness to depression and vertigo.

It is the job of a chiropractor to determine the root cause of these symptoms, and relieve the interference through a chiropractic adjustment. This allows for the brain to communicate with the rest of your body appropriately, and gives the best chance to achieve health and wellness naturally.

In our Queen Anne office we have seen the healing of severe back pain, neck pain, and headaches. We have had children with chronic ear infections visit our office only to be free of said ear infections within days.

The main focus of a chiropractor will always be the adjustment, but a chiropractor can also lead you back to health with honest and sound advice regarding exercise, nutrition, and emotional well being.

When a chiropractor delivers a chiropractic adjustment to the vertebra of a person who has become accountable for their health, the possibilities of healing are endless.

3. What is a chiropractic adjustment?

Chiropractic adjustments are the most important and essential part of your care plan.

Spinal joints that aren’t moving right can choke or irritate nearby nerves. Chiropractic adjustments add motion to these stuck joints, reducing nervous system disruption. Then, health has the best opportunity to return.

Like lifting a heavy rock off your toe, our patients often report a pleasant sense of release directly following their adjustments.

Sometimes a specific, highly-accurate thrust is used. Or an instrument delivers carefully directed energy. Or a slow, constant pressure is used. Several areas may be adjusted, or just one. Sometimes a popping sound is heard.

Because we rely on adjustments to help your body “right itself”, we’re highly proficient.

Most patients report a sense of well-being and ease. After all, if adjustments weren’t pleasant, our patients wouldn’t return for the multiple visits needed to retrain their spine!

Newborns, infants, children, seniors and even back surgery patients can get adjusted. Naturally, adjustments are tailored to your size, age and particular health issue.

Find out for yourself by scheduling a no-obligation consultation to discuss your problem.

4. Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

For approximately 95% of our practice members, there is no pain or discomfort during the adjustment. There might be a very minor amount of discomfort the next day, similar to a hard workout. About 5% of patients may feel a tiny sharp pain during the adjustment that lasts for about 1 second, and instantly disappears.

5. Is a chiropractic adjustment safe?

Chiropractic adjustments are perfectly safe and effective. Based strictly risk assessment from insurance companies each doctors full malpractice premium is approximately fifteen hundred dollars per year.

6. What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is the result of the bones in your spinal column, also called your vertebrae, being misaligned or malpositioned effecting the brain and body’s ability to communicate efficiently.

Subluxation | sub = less than | luxation = dislocation

A subluxation is a response to stress on the body. Muscles can spasm and get taught. Vertebrae lose range of motion when they lock up. Nerve function can be diminished by being compressed and choked. This interference effects the body’s ability to function properly. This interference depletes the ability of the brain to send out communication signals effectively, and the body to receive them.

If your high speed internet is dropped it can be frustrating. But dropped service between your brain and body can cause a serious effect on your health and wellness.

Nerve communication that has been deteriorated can be an underlying cause of your health problems beyond back pain, neck, pain, and headaches. For example. Interfere with nerve impulses going to or from your lungs = problems with your lungs.

Your nervous system controls every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. These nerve impulses travel through your spine via your spinal cord. So having a spine free of vertebral subluxations is essential for optimal health.

Only a chiropractor detects subluxations. Only a chiropractic adjustments can naturally reduce the effect of subluxations on your nervous system.

Call us to schedule an appointment to determine if you are free of vertebral subluxations.

7. How do I get a subluxation?

There are three basic causes of subluxations. Physical stress caused by things such as trauma from falls, sports, and car accidents. Emotional stresses like anger and fear, that can usually attributed to a stressful job, relationship, family, and things of that nature. Nutritional stresses are also a cause of subluxations, and examples of these stresses can be a poor diet, alcohol, recreational and prescription drugs.

8. How can subluxations be corrected?

The primary form of care to reduce areas of subluxation is a care from a chiropractor via chiropractic adjustment. The application of a chiropractic adjustment in the right direction and at the right time, over time, changes in the position and motion of the vertebrae(spinal bones) will be made.

9. How can I tell if I have a subluxation?

It is possible to have vertebral subluxations and not even be aware of it. Similar to early stages of tooth decay or a disease process like cancer, subluxations can be present without having any current signs or symptoms. The results of a thorough examination by a chiropractor can show the location and severity of any subluxations that may be present.

10. Can subluxations clear up on their own?

Occasionally. Today’s modern lifestyle can be a constant cause of subluxations. Much of the time, our bodies have the ability to self-correct many of these minor issues as we stretch, bend, exercise and even rest. When subluxations do not resolve on their own, you will want to see a chiropractor.

11. Do I have to have X-rays if I am a new patient?

For a chiropractor, x-ray’s are very important tool to help determine the current health and integrity of your spine, as well as areas of subluxation. Proper x-rays will allow us to determine the best best prognosis for your condition, and find the exact chiropractic listings to adjust you safely and effectively . These images can also help reveal pathologies, document the history of your spinal health, and guide us in creating a chiropractic care plan based on your unique spinal condition.

If you happen to have recent x-rays from another doctor we will be happy to request them. If you are a patient of our office but have not visited in some time, we may forgo new x-rays providing there was not a new incident that would require new films to be taken, but each chiropractor will determine whether there is a need on a case by case basis.

A thorough history, examination, and x-rays allow each chiropractor of Queen Anne Chiropractic Center to objectively determine a chiropractic care plan, and figure out a short and long term prognosis for your current and future health.
